Before the Harford Family House Emergency Shelter (formerly Welcome One Emergency Shelter) was established, Harford County churches opened their doors during the winter months to shelter adult neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Although Harford Family House now operates the county’s year-round emergency shelter, the need for additional winter shelter remains. In response, the Harford County Hope for the Homeless Alliance (HCHHA) was formed in 2015 with the support of then–County Councilman Curtis Beulah.
HCHHA is a coalition of local government, businesses, nonprofit agencies, and faith-based organizations working together to operate the Emergency Rotating Shelter, providing safe overnight shelter for adults during the coldest months of the year. Discover the details here.
