Become a Community Engagement Representative

Help create a safe, welcoming environment for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Community Engagement Representatives, or CERs, are a vital part of HCHHA’s Emergency Rotating Shelter. CERs help maintain a safe and supportive environment for guests, volunteers and host churches throughout the shelter season.

CERs assist with guest check-in, help prevent and de-escalate conflicts, support shelter procedures and provide a calm, reassuring presence during evening and overnight shifts.

You do not need professional security experience. Training is provided.

CER training includes CPR, First Aid, Adult Mental Health First Aid, and MANDT training in conflict prevention and de-escalation.

We are currently building our CER team for the upcoming shelter season and would love to tell you more.
